COVID Updates

What we're doing to keep you safe at the barre!

Reduced Capacity and Social Distance Spacing

We are currently following the CDC’s recommendations to wear masks indoors regardless of your vaccination status. All clients must wear a mask to enter the studio and keep it on until you get to your spot for class. Masks must be worn in all common areas including the boutique and equipment/bathroom area.

Also the studio opens 10-15 minutes before class and closes 5 minutes after class to ensure we can thoroughly clean in between classes.

Studio and Equipment Sanitation

SBATX-ReOpening-social

Our Force of Nature cleaning system is on the EPA’s list of disinfectants for use against SARS-CoV-2, the cause of COVID-19. We are committed to constant and effective sanitization to help keep staff and clients as safe as possible!  We are also using hospital grade MERV-13 rated air filters to filter out not only dust and daily pollution but also potential virus carriers.

Walk-ins & Late Cancellation/No Show Policy

You must sign up online for all classes and no walk-ins will be allowed to drop in for class. Please make sure you are signed up for all email and text notifications to receive reservation reminders as well as waitlist notifications. If you are added to any class from a waitlist, you must confirm back to the studio if you do or do not plan to attend class. All cancellations must be made at least 4 hours in advance of your class start time. Your early cancellation will ensure that someone from the waitlist can take your spot. Any cancellations not made within the 4-hour window will result in a $10 late cancel fee {for unlimited memberships} or a loss of one class from your class pack. If you do not cancel class online and do not show up for class, there is a $20 no-show fee regardless of unlimited membership or class pack.

Suspension of Amenities

Our restrooms will be available for your use before class. We do ask that, if at all possible, you use the restroom prior to coming to the studio to help avoid lines and waiting for restrooms. We also ask that you come to the studio dressed and ready for class as our changing room will not be available and we ask that you do not change in our restrooms.

Our towel service has been suspended so please feel free to bring a hand towel to class as well as a full water bottle as we have also suspended use of our water dispenser.

Born in Asia and raised in Hilton Head Island, SC, Candice made the move to Charleston in the summer of 2010. She took her first Studio Barre class in 2017 and fell in love instantly. After working in a retail corporate setting for most of her adult life, she is truly grateful that she gets to be part of such an amazing and empowering community of women! She’s the retail eyes and ears of the studio and her passion for fashion will get you in the mood to shop.

When she’s not working or taking class at the studio she enjoys spending time with her husband Evan and her two fur babies.

Katie was born in Spartanburg, SC where she was first introduced to ballet at three years old and immediately loved it. She danced for sixteen years with the pre-professional company, where she performed multiple Nutcrackers, American in Paris, Alice in Wonderland, and many more. When going to Clemson University, she knew she wanted to continue her love and passion for ballet, which is where she found barre! Katie became certified and taught barre classes for all ages throughout her college career. After graduating Clemson, she moved to Charleston to start graduate school to pursue a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology at the Medical University of South Carolina. The first time she took a Studio Barre class, she instantly fell in love with the community and the intense workout! When Katie’s not at the studio or studying, you can find her cheering on the Clemson Tigers!”

Megan is an original Charleston native and graduated from Clemson University with a degree in Communications and is currently pursuing her master’s degree in Public Administration. She began dancing at the age of 3 and competed for 10 years at the Charleston Dance Center and also served as the President of the Clemson Dancers while in college. The first time she took a Studio Barre class she instantly fell in love with the workout because it reminds her of her dance years and it’s just so fun! When she’s not working or teaching at the studio she spends time with her boyfriend, Hudson and family and friends and is always looking for good live music….and drinking tequila!

Kayla was born in Greenwood, SC and graduated from Clemson University where she became a state and nationally certified Pharmacy Technician. She loves the fact that she can be literally dying throughout the entire Studio Barre workout yet she feels like superwoman as soon as she hits that Final 10. She has found a second family with this barre tribe and she is incredibly blessed to have a small part in helping other people fall in love with barre and helping them to become the best version of themselves. Plus being an instructor is the perfect balance of work and being a full-time stay at home mom.

She and her amazing husband, Zach love spending family time with their kids, Amelia and Derrick going to the beach, boating, fishing and basically anything to do with water.

Born and raised in Charleston, she first held a tennis racket at age 3 and quickly fell in love with the sport. She both played competitively and taught tennis through college until she was forced to take a break due to a shoulder injury. After graduating from the College of Charleston, she kept trying different group fitness classes but could not find anything that she enjoyed…until she came to Studio Barre! Even though she could barely walk after taking her first class – it was love at first tuck! After being a frequent client for 18 months, she auditioned to become an instructor and loves being a part of the SBJI team. Her favorite thing about Studio Barre (besides the workouts) is the community and being around a great group of ladies every day. Her classes have been known to bring on the burn and nothing makes her happier than seeing everyone give it their all.

When she’s not at the studio, she can be found working her other passion – real estate or spending time with her husband, Todd, and their fur babies, Gracie and Boone and usually a few extra rescue pups too.

Lindsey was born in Atlanta, GA and moved to Charleston when she was 15 years old. She attended Porter Gaud for high school and College of Charleston for college where she studied English and Art History. She also received her Masters in Teaching with a concentration in Secondary English from the Citadel in Charleston. She has a full-time career as a teacher at James Island Charter High School.

She was immediately hooked after her first Studio Barre class and she loved how Studio Barre was incredibly upbeat and friendly right from the start. Having taken barre for more than 8 years in the Charleston area, she knew a good thing when she saw it.

When she is not tucking you up with her favorite chair exercises, Lindsey can be found spending time with her husband, Justin, and daughter, Ellie and their fur babies.

Nancie was born and raised in Georgia and has lived in Charleston over 20 years. She took her first Studio Barre class in 2015 and it was love at first tuck! Exercise was a huge stress reliever for her and she found a true ‘home’ at Studio Barre with both the energetic and loving crew and clients as well as the intense workouts.

She loves helping clients achieve their goals and is always there to provide extra support long after the class ends. She is forever grateful to Studio Barre for helping make her dreams come true and the bonus is that it’s not only fun but she gets to make a difference in the lives of so many people.

When she’s not at the studio she’s spending quality time with her husband and her two fur babies.

She was a dance major at the Boston Conservatory of Music so when barre classes became popular, she was immediately drawn to this amazing workout. They settled right into the charm of Charleston and now that Elena has retired from
her full-time job, you can find her working our front desk and loving the SBJI community!

Ashley Zalabak

Ashley moved to Charleston from Greenville, SC in 2007 to attend College of Charleston and study Marine Biology. After graduating, she got a job as at the South Carolina Aquarium and teaches people about the ocean every day.

In addition to loving animals, Ashley has always been a health and fitness advocate. She always enjoyed going to group fitness classes growing up. Being a group fitness junkie lent itself to trying all of the hotspot gyms and studios in Charleston. Hopping around from yoga to barre to cycling studios, she kept trying new spots testing out all of the “new student specials.”

When she started Studio Barre, it was unlike any other fitness community that she had ever been a part of. From the moment she walked in and was greeted with a friendly face to the next day when she couldn’t walk and got a personalized note in the mail, she was hooked. The friendliness of the staff combined with the intensity of the workout created a home away from home for Ashley. After about a year, she tried out to follow a dream she’s always had of being a fitness instructor. After a whirlwind of training and test outs, she made it and couldn’t be happier to share her passion with others! She loves every second of inspiring, pushing, challenging, and helping clients reach their fitness goals. Not only is she a barre{tender} at SBJI, but she is also a friendly, welcoming face to every person that walks through the door.

She and her husband Josh are about to expand their crew welcoming new baby Jude into the family in February 2019.
